I’m going to have to start posting more often, if I want to show all the fun photos of the girls.

A weekend ago, we went to visit family in Portland and also to attend our adoption agency’s annual regional picnic. The girls did remarkably well in the car. Naps always help.

As you saw from the last post, the girls had fun at the picnic. You just can’t beat playing and making friends.

Of course we parents also enjoyed meeting/reacquainting ourselves with other AWAA adoptive parents. It’s nice to spend time with others who share the same experiences, the same life perspective, and who know many of the same people.

It was also great for Ami to meet cousin Natalie and more of her relatives. Today marks one month home, and she is settling in well.

Thank you Nana and Papa for always taking such good care of us. (Miah told me the other night that she wanted to visit Nana and Papa again this weekend.)

We’ve now been home a week, and the jet-lag is subsiding (but not totally resolved). I think we were all asleep by 11:00 last night, with no sleep-interruptions until 4-ish, then up at 6:00. It’s been crazy with all four of us adjusting to our time-zone at different rates.

We were happy to have Nana and Papa visit us over the weekend, and took the opportunity to get some fresh peaches from Nancy and Alex.

I think Ami is going to like visiting their farm/orchard as much as Miah does!

The girls were also happy to receive gifts (belated birthday). Thank you so much Nana & Papa, and Wes & Joanie. They’ve been having a lot of fun with them. (Thank you for the fabric and wishes also!)

Ami is just thrilled with so many toys to play with. My concerns about sensory overload for this little dynamo were moot. She’s very bright, and learns quickly by watching (so much like her big sister!) – more on that in another post…

Can you tell that life around here has just gotten louder?

I had to travel half way around the world to find you, (actually you went half way around the world to find me.) But it’s definitely been worth it. Thanks for the Great 17 years! I guess it makes sense that we also traveled half way around the world to find Miah, and now we’re about to travel half way around the world again to find Ami! Te Amo!!

Happy Father’s Day, Daddy! Thanks for being such a super Dad! From helping me text on your phone ↓, to your yummy Sunday morning breakfasts, to our frequent Mountain excursions, you’re simply the Greatest! (And thank you, Jackie, for the great photos ↑.)

I asked Miah what she wanted to get Daddy for Father’s Day, and she said, “Flowers.” So she picked out a rose bush with pink blooms that Daddy will get to plant. Happy Father’s Day to you, too, Papa!

It’s happened. Miah has figured out how to open the drawers to one of the shell cabinets. She loves playing with the shells (can’t blame her), lining them up, organizing them, etc. I guess I should take advantage of this teaching opportunity. It probably wouldn’t take much for her to learn their scientific names. She already asks me the names of the different varieties. And being the little organizer that she is, they all go back in the drawers they came out of when I ask her to put them away! This is a tiger cowrie, by the way, or cypraea tigris, that we found in Guam. Judging by the size of it, I’m thinking it was found off Orote Point, Shark’s Pit area.

This week has been a busy one. Mom/Grandma had total knee replacement, so we’ve been spending a bit of time visiting her in rehab at the hospital. We (I should say, Warren) have also been busy painting a couple rooms in her house while she’s not there. Miah really loves her Grandma, and is anxious to see her back on her feet! Get Well Soon!
