One Teardrop For Sale

May 30th, 2011

Yes, our little teardrop trailer is for sale.  Now that we are a family of four, we have grown out of it.

We have many happy memories in this, our second teardrop.  (The first, pre-Miah, was a bit smaller, like this one ↓ that Warren custom made for someone.)

But ours was even more custom.  This ↓ was in 2003, and worked well for just the two of us.

He fit our newer one with a bunk and rail, so Miah had her own little bed above our double bed.

It worked quite well in 2007…

And in 2008…

Yes, good memories.  But it’s time to expand.

You can see the sides have since been covered with aluminum to match the top.  (Like the one he made Paul and Kathryn ↓ last year.)

It’s quite functional.  The cupboards store our clothes,

And the kitchen in the back has a stove, room for the cooler, and other camping necessities.

Here it is in use a couple summers ago.

You can read more about it here ↓.

Oh, Warren did find a replacement for us.  (We’re not ready to go back to a tent.)

It’s not custom made, but Warren is currently customizing it to our needs.

The girls can’t wait to go camping!

Jie Jie

May 20th, 2011

“Big Sister”.  How did she grow up so fast?  This week was our 4 year anniversary of bringing baby Miah home, and now she’s nearing 5 years old!

We are so blessed to have this sweet girl be our daughter, and Ami is one privileged girl to get to call Miah her “jie jie”.

We couldn’t ask for a better role model for her little sister.  Obedient, caring, cheerful, and ready to teach Ami everything she knows.  She is truly my (and Daddy’s) big helper!

I am amazed at what wonderful companions these girls have become.  Of course not always, but the majority of the time.

I know I appreciate having sisters.  I’m glad our girls now have that blessing, too.

Making Milestones

May 13th, 2011

Fishing like Daddy.

Riding her tricycle unassisted (the legs are finally long enough)!

Sleeping through the night!!! (most nights)  It took us over 8 months to finally reach this milestone.  Of course after posting this, I don’t expect it to happen tonight…

A Special Anniversary

May 8th, 2011

Four years ago today, this sweet girl joined our family.

Four years ago, I became a Mom in China, and even celebrated Mother’s Day there!

Four years ago we were captivated by her precious smile…

Which she still generously shares.

We love you, Miah.

And are proud to be your Mom and Dad!

Ami’s Quilt

May 3rd, 2011

Ami loves to “read”.  Tonight she was “reading” her Sisters book to us, and came to a page where they are sitting in a chair together.  She pointed to the picture and said, “time out”.  Warren said, “No, they’re just sitting in the chair reading together.”  But Ami insisted they were in a time out!

I have finally started putting Ami’s 100 Good Wishes Quilt together.  I know, it’s been a whole year since I first started gathering fabric and wishes.  But it has been a busy year, too.  I found this neat fabric at Fabric Depot, (online), and was able to get it during a great sale.  It is similar in color and quality to the fabric I used for the back of  Miah’s quilt, but a different design.

I’m using the same “pattern” that I used for Miah’s.  First I lay out all the different squares and arrange them in fours, and rearrange them, and rearrange them again.   I was hoping to be able to get this done in the winter months (it’s a shame to work on inside projects when the weather is nice outside), but we still do not quite have 100 different fabric squares.  I got tired of waiting and started on it anyway, we’ll probably use leftover fabric from Miah’s quilt to finish out the 100.  So if anyone has any extra “Good wishes” they want to post for Ami, we could certainly use them!

Thank you everyone who has sent fabric and wishes for Ami.  It is really special to have each of you be a part of her quilt.  We enjoy reading what you have written for her, and I know someday Ami will treasure her scrapbook like Miah does hers.
