History Night

November 2nd, 2013

Beatrix Potter meets Sacagawea.

Thursday evening we culminated a project that we have been working on since school started.  Several homeschool families got together for a History Night, where our kids displayed and reported on an historical figure that they selected and studied.

A much better alternative than other Halloween activities (in my opinion), and they still got to dress up, which is half the fun anyway.

I interviewed the girls for their portion of the presentations.  All the kids did such a great job, it was a lot of fun, and everyone learned something new.

Miah chose to be Sacagawea.  We read several books, and it fit in well with our study of Native Americans in school.

You can see some of the items the girls have made as part of their curriculum.  The cradleboard holding “Pomp” was an added touch by Mom.

Ami agreed to be Beatrix Potter.  It was interesting to find out more about the author of The Tale of Peter Rabbit.

Ami was just happy to be able to carry around her bunny.
