Celebrating “Gotcha Ami”

July 25th, 2012

Just look at that smile!

Ami, you have grown and changed so much in the two years since we met you!

We’ll never forget that incredible day in Guangzhou when you became our long-awaited daughter and sister.

On that day, a special sisterly bond began,

And it just gets stronger as time passes.

Thank you for the blessings you bring to our family, sweet girl!

Summer Happenings

July 20th, 2012

My foremost title for the summer has become the chauffeur.  It’s a good thing we don’t need to do schoolwork this summer, because I don’t know when we’d fit it in.

Between ice skating and gymnastics,

Special library events (this one was Animals of the NW),

Swimming lessons,

And playing at Grandma’s while Mom quilts,

Or cans fruit,

The girls don’t have a chance to be bored.

Not that they even know the meaning of the word “bored”; they can entertain themselves quite well.

When we’re not hurrying somewhere, the garden keeps us busy.  We recently discovered a resident toad keeping cool under the zucchini plants.  Keep eating those bugs, little guy!

Even our nights have been eventful.  To accompany our high temperatures, we’ve had some impressive thunderstorms (for this part of the country).

Thankfully the lightning strikes that have started wildfires near us have been followed by rain squalls to help put them out!

Finally, today’s big event?  Tooth number 4 is gone!  Yes, gone.  The tooth fairy won’t even be able to find it …

Beating the Heat

July 9th, 2012

We all enjoyed some needed r & r while camping this weekend.

I guess it wasn’t all rest;

The girls put in several miles, I’m sure, on their bikes.

We still had to cook.

We went on a nice hike.

Where we saw the flora,

And the fauna.

Although it was cooler in the mountains, it was still pretty hot.

So we happily ate our lunch in the shade by a snow fed stream.

Before really cooling off with a little water fight.

Great memories being made!
