Where Did You Go, July?

August 3rd, 2013

7.3

It’s been Hot!

7.5

So we’ve stayed cool, in the pool,

7.15

In the sprinklers,

7.9a

At the lake,

7.31

Or in the mountains.

7.6

We’ve been busy as bees,

7.26

In the garden,

7.7

(I have to confess I have Great Helpers!)

7.4g

And canning/freezing fruit (cherries),

7.9

And more fruit (peaches),

7.15a

And more fruit (apricots)!

7.24

We’ve enjoyed family time,

7.14

Both near and far.

7.19

But Ami shared with me tonight that, “Driving in the car is long, but when we get there it’s fun to be with everybody and play with them.”

7.20b

I think we all second that!

           7.20

The girls love their cousins!

7.20c

And their nana and papa.

7.21

Camping and playing in the river,

7.20a

Are added bonuses.

7.20d

We’ve had some celebrations!  A new baby cousin,

7.12

A Big Anniversary,

7.4

A smaller anniversary,

8.3

Happy Gotcha Day, Ami!  Three years home!!!

8.3a

And Happy Birthday, Miah!  How can you be Seven already?

8.2

They say time flies when you’re having fun.  Well, it’s flying!

Flower Girls

May 30th, 2013

KJwed2

We had the wonderful Celebration of adding a new member to our extended family this past weekend.

KJwed18

Despite all the rainy weather both before and after, God saw fit to grant our requests for pleasant weather the afternoon of the wedding.  Thank You!!

KJwed5

What a lovely group of young people!  Seven of which I taught in 4th/5th grade…Where does time go?!

KJwed9

The bride was beautiful.

KJwed14

Their vows were original and sweet.

KJwed13

They even shared vows for their daughter-to-be!

KJwed6

But my favorite part was watching the little flower girls.

KJwed7

I’ve decided that flower girls don’t make any mistakes.

KJwed17

Even when they don’t know where to go.  (Hey, the photographer wasn’t on the path during practice!)

KJwed8

Or they forget to drop the rose petals.

JWwed1

Even when they refuse to ride in the wagon.  (Miah’s first flower girl experience.)

JWwed

And Daddy has to escort them down the aisle.

RAwed

Even when they hold their plaque sideways.

MWwed

Or walk down the aisle painfully slowly… (Katie, in our wedding.)

5.26

Or practice ballet pliés during the ceremony while standing up front.  (Rijl in Nancy & Alex’s wedding.)

KJwed11

Flower girls can’t be blamed if they appear bored.

KJwed12

Or fidgety.

KJwed20

Or if they practice their winking during the ceremony.

KJwed15

Because the audience doesn’t doesn’t mind one bit!

KJwed22

All they see is the cuteness!

KJwed10

They probably even enjoy the distraction.

KJwed16

I know I do.

KJwed19

We haven’t blown away yet!

April 13th, 2013

4.10

Although our spring weather has been a bit blustery, the girls are really enjoying more time outdoors.

4.10a

Marveling at the cherry blossoms,

4.7

Gathering daffodils,

4.9

Swinging,

4.9a

Whether it’s a cloudy day,

4.9b

Or a sunny day, is irrelevant.

4.10b

Swinging is the next best thing to flying!

4.10c

Our time indoors has been productive, too.  Miah made us all proud in her first piano recital!

4.8

And we celebrated a few birthdays for this month.  I wonder who?

4.12

The Year of the Snake

February 15th, 2013

Sunday we celebrated Chinese New Year with several local adoptive families.

This is our third year, and each year we have a larger turn out.

This year we had over 50 people in attendance with 11 families, including 15 kiddos adopted from China!

Miah and Ami are privileged to call them all friends.

We started out with wonderful food.

Followed by an interactive story,

Of which the kids were all eager listeners,

And participants.

Especially when it came time for the Red Envelopes!

There was opportunity to make crafts, including Snakes.

We got to meet our newest US Citizen!

And finally caught up with another, home almost a year now!

What a fun and blessed evening we all had!  Just think how much richer each of our families now are, and how much more vibrant our community.

Xin Nian Kuai Le!
