New Adventures

March 29th, 2012

Ami got a princess fishing pole for her birthday last fall, and until this last week, had never had the opportunity to use it!

Well, with a little instruction from Daddy, she is now a pro at casting just like her jie jie.

Dusty Lake has now claimed a second (plastic) fish off of Miah’s line.  This girl has an arm!  Thankfully Ami had an extra one to share, so they can both be guaranteed a “catch” with every cast!

I guess it’s time put some flies on those lines so they can start reeling in the real fish . . . like Daddy!

By the second fish, Ami was losing interest…

She wouldn’t even come look at the third one!

But we had a great day, and are blessed to have two good little hikers.

Another first this week, was introducing the girls to skiing!

They are looking forward to doing it again!

Lions and Lambs

March 23rd, 2012

They say March comes in like a lion, and goes out like a lamb… or is it the other way around.

Well, we’ve had lion weather and lamb weather back and forth all month it seems.

Last week the girls enjoyed catching snowflakes (even on the nose!)

They were thrilled to wake up yesterday to a blanket of white over everything, and they were disappointed when it melted away so quickly.

Today they played outside for hours in the sunshine.  So I’m pretty sure they’re ready for spring.

I know I am!  We were able to find some hints of spring on our recent walk by the river.  Finally!

Finally Done!

March 9th, 2012

Ami is now the proud owner of her very own 100 Good Wishes Quilt!

As soon as I finished stitching the binding, she wanted it on her bed.

Of course we had to take some pictures first.

Both the front, and the back.

“I like the panda bear!”

Did you see your name block?

“Now I’m ready for a nap.”

Just one more picture, with both your quilts!

I remember Miah being fascinated with her new quilt, too.

My haven’t the years flown by!

Although I finished both the quilt top and back in January,

I didn’t get to the final step, the quilting, right away.

There were a few other quilting jobs already in line…

Mom is the master quilt maker.  I just do some of the machine quilting for her.

Her 90 year old friend, Virginia, keeps me busy, too, with her baby quilts.

In all I’ve quilted seven this season (winter), with another in progress and maybe one or two more after that.  Then that should be it for a while, as it will soon be warm enough for gardening/hiking/outdoor time!
