Memories of Christmas 2008

December 28th, 2008

Christmas is double fun with a two year old.

Miah is checking out her new dollhouse.  Draping herself with all the ribbons is pretty fun, too.

She finally warmed up to cousin Eric (the better to play with her toy).

Miah loves puzzles.  Thank you, Kaelan.

Playing with cousin Kian at Grandma’s birthday party.

Hanging out with her newest monkey.

Happy New Year, everyone!

We Wish You a Merry Christmas

A Merry Christmas to All

December 24th, 2008

“Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.” Luke 2:14

We wish you all a very Merry Christmas, and God’s Blessings in the New Year to come.

This past year has flown by, and Miah has grown up so much (as you can see by the contrasting photos).  God continues to pour out his blessings on our family, and we look forward to the Day of His return!

Miah talk

December 17th, 2008

Miah’s love of letters and words even join her in the bathtub.  She can name over half the alphabet letters by sight.  She had some of them down before she even turned two!  We’re still working on pronunciation.

The following “Miah Talk” was an idea I got from Huddle, and her post on “Estherisms” – thanks!

Siwy Miah – what she says when being silly, or messy, or anytime I’m inclined to roll my eyes at her antics

Boom – any owie, from falling down to a scratch

Otay – when the boom is all better

Woodles – favorite food (noodles)

Dodos- favorite snack (cheerios)

Daddy, home – what she says multiple times a day, wishing her Daddy was with her

Time – what she requests with Daddy every night (climb – as in onto his shoulders)

No wet hair – what she says every night at bath time

Nighty – her version of good night or even if she sees someone or something lying down

Morning – the opposite of dark, whether it’s AM or PM, sunlight or a lighted room

Booder – those things in your nose that make it hard to breathe

Pay no – (Play snow) is said a lot in this wintery weather

Hold baby Miah – when she wants to be picked up for some cuddling

Hold tight – when she wants to be held with undivided attention

Rag, happy – what she says when she wants the extra security of carrying her rag around

Ugie hair – what she says when she doesn’t want me to fix her hair  (This started out as “No pitty hair” anytime I went to comb her hair.  One morning I mistakenly said, “You don’t want pretty hair?  You want ugly hair?”  She pounced right on that phrase.  ”Ugie hair…ugie hair…no pitty hair.”  I only said it once, and I haven’t repeated it again, but the damage was done, as this girl has an incredible memory!)

Oh, Christmas Tree

December 12th, 2008

Last week we went on our annual Christmas Tree hunt in the mountains.  We didn’t have snow to contend with this year, so we had more options of where to hunt.  Notice the contrast:

↓ Last year,

↓ And this year.

Okay, Daddy, we found our tree.

Ready to haul it home.

Miah with her buddies, the Redman girls.

It was a beautiful day, with a spectacular sunset.  We stopped on Sugarloaf Mountain to admire God’s handiwork before heading home.
