Camping Extras

June 30th, 2008

Miah loves washing dishes!  (Her shirt, from Uncle Paul, says “Happy Camper”.)

As I was packing food to take with us, Miah started carrying whatever she fancied from the pantry and piling it by the front door.

On every trip she would inform me, “Helper!”  And of course I replied that yes, she was a good helper.

Her collection included noodles, marshmallows, chocolate chips, a bag of paper to recycle, and much more!

Because of the late spring this year, the river was really high.  There was a landslide just before Memorial Day that diverted the river right over the road a few miles from our campground.  Needless to say, the road is closed for the season.

The former Icicle River Road

We hiked around to see the landslide and river diversion.  There’s a lot of power in the water!

This sign says, “No Overnight Camping.”

Miah was tuckered out after the mile plus hike.  (Yep, she walked most of it!)

(The previous post shows how she got back.)

For You, Grandma

June 25th, 2008

Do you think this is enough floss, Mama?  I do have 16 teeth, you know.

As Miah grows, she finds more ways to entertain herself, . . . and more things to get into.  So I find I can get a little more done, . . . and I have a lot more to do.

Court Date

The Davis family with Judge Bridges on The Big Day

Although not required, we took recommendations and re-adopted Miah here in the USA.  She now has a WA state Birth Certificate and Adoption Decree.  It will just make things easier throughout her life to have these official documents on record and accessible, rather than just those we got in China.  So we are now done with ALL paperwork in relation to Miah’s adoption!  She seems happy about it!

My Little Gardener

June 19th, 2008

One of Miah’s most frequently used words is “Helper.”  For example, I”ll say “I need to go pick the peas in the garden,” and she’ll respond, “Helper?”  meaning, “Can I help you?”  Then she insists on carrying the bucket.

Searching for peas.

Picking the peas.

Caught with the evidence.

Running with the evidence.

Eating the evidence.

“You want one?”  (Trying to bribe the accuser.)

Is the bucket full yet?

Seriously, she is a good little helper.  I just have to watch for the half-eaten ones that she drops in the bucket with the others.
