Thanksgiving, 2011, and we have so much to be thankful for!  These two precious girls are at the top of the list!  God has truly blessed us.

One of our Thanksgiving activities this week was to make individual edible turkeys.  We started with mixing rice crispy treats.

The girls enjoyed forming them into balls, and adding chocolate frosting to cookies for the base and the tail.

Candy corn was used for tail feathers and the head.

We made a whole gang of turkeys to share.

But the best part was cleaning up the leftover parts and sampling the completed product.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Lovin’ the Snow!

November 19th, 2011

For kids that love hot weather, Miah and Ami have been thrilled to have snow to play in.  It started like this↓, watching the first flakes fall.

Then there was enough of the white stuff to play in.

It was dark when we got home from choir, but they still wanted more playtime in the snow before supper.

We loved the sunshine the next day, making the snow sparkle.

It also helps it pack well.

And it makes the slide really fast!

Do you want to know my favorite part?  All that fresh air helps the little ‘angels’ sleep soundly all through the night.  (They didn’t even wake to the hooting of the  great-horned owl on the roof at 5am!)

EnJOYing Autumn

November 10th, 2011

Although our fall season seemed short, we enjoyed a couple nice weeks before the weather turned cold.

The girls are glad it hasn’t been a rainy season here, because playing in the leaves is pure JOY.

Prior to that, they enjoyed gleaning apples (for making applesauce),

And picking grapes for both eating and steaming into juice.

We didn’t carve any pumpkins this year, but Miah has helped me dig the seeds out of some banana squash.

Mom, they’re kind of heavy!

Okay.  Let’s check out the llamas and emus.

This one’s kind of cute.

I like this sunflower, too!

Grandma, I thought we raked all your leaves last week!  Now there’s more!

What a big pile!

It’s growing!

Oh no, it’s the giant leaf monster!

He can even make it rain leaves.

So what do you do for autumn fun?
